With the dance performance Corpus Meum, author Marion Darova provokes a debate on the legalization of euthanasia.

Marion Darova graduated with a BA in Philosophy at Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“. From 2008 to 2011, she studied Performing Arts Directing at the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts „Krastyo Sarafov“. In 2015, she completed a one-year training program in contemporary dance „Dance Port Derida“. She graduated from the MA program „Artistic Psychosocial Practices and Psychodrama“ at New Bulgarian University. She made her choreographic debut in 2016 with „Mainstream“. In 2017, she participated in the Bulgarian showcase of the European Festival of Contemporary Dance and Performance „Aerowaves“ with the show „Trauma“. In 2018, she premiered „Corpus Meum“, which aims to provoke a debate on the legalization of euthanasia. Her performance „Hating Machine“ explores the genealogy of hatred and its formation into an ideology of groups. Marion Darova participated as a performer in biotope performances of the Dutch company „United Cowboys“ in 2019 and 2022. In the spring of 2020, she participated in a joint exhibition of the „Bulgarian Women’s Fund“ with the installation „Spill“ based on the film „Persona“ by Ingmar Bergman. For her performance „WO MAN“ (which highlights gender issues), Marion was awarded the prestigious IKAR Award 2020 in the category „Contemporary Dance and Performance“. In 2022, „FREEFALL“ premiered at „ONE DANCE WEEK“ festival and was nominated for the IKAR award 2022. Her latest piece, „Lists“, is a theatre play. As a choreographer for theatre projects, she worked with Ivan Dobchev in 2018 for his play „New Bible“, with Malin Krastev for his play „Noise and Fury“ (2020), and Vasilena Radeva for „Horo“ (2023). Since 2017, Marion has been teaching „Stage Movement“ and „Contemporary Dance Techniques“ at theatre college „Lyuben Groys“. She has experience in a wide variety of dance styles – in her free time, she teaches Dancehall (Twerk) and House Dance (footwork), which belong to the Street Dance styles’ group.
